HI!!!

I started on this tutorial but i would first like to know what you think.

My spelling correction is broken and english is not my native language so if you find anything to correct me on, please do.

Here we Go!
--------------------------------------------------------

Usually you see a sword drawn flat towards the viewer because most artists find it dificult to draw a sword in perspective, while its not so hard once you know how.

Ill take you step to step trough the drawing process of making a simple 3d sword.

First we draw a simple cross, one long line for the handle and blade, and a shorter one for the hand guard.

Then we draw two lines paralel to the line that will be the blade. And we draw the tip, we do this by drawing a line across the blade that is parralel to the handguard line. Then we draw a triangle from both ends of the line to the centre line. Try to round the tip or else it will look fake.

And we will turn the hand guard in to a cube and the cross line will be in the centre of the front of the cube, and the centre line will be bent a little to show the depth.

Now we ad the handle, we draw pritty little turny things on it to give it more depth. We can use these as help lines and erase these later or we can keep them. And on the end of the sword we draw a line where the pommel is going to be. I drew a circle for a round one, but if you want a decorative one you can draw a squere to help you with the depth perspective.

So at this point we have a very simple and ugly sword. So now we ad the lines and stuff where we want to ad the stuff to make our sword pritty and shiny. You can ad gems and pointy stuff.

Now we erase all our help lines. Personaly this is the point where i put my drawing on the light box (okay its a glass table and a lamp that i hang onder it) so that i can trace my work all nice and fancy on a clean sheet.

Don’t forget to ad the name, date and your signature, and where done.

I hope this Tutorial will be usefull to you, and i hope you will have fun drawing swords.

Im fairly used to draw blades myself... this tutorial would work well for beginners... ^^

My bigger concern when drawing stuff in perspective is when the motive is located deeper in the picture and extends/points outward.. -_-
